Discontinuation of Cat and Feline Complaint Response

Effective immediately, the Town of Apple River Animal Control program will no longer respond to complaints or incidents involving domestic cats, stray cats, feral cats, abandoned cats, or kittens.

The Town's limited animal-control resources will be directed toward matters involving public safety, dog-related complaints, livestock issues, nuisance wildlife affecting Town infrastructure, and other responsibilities authorized by Town policy and applicable law.

Residents seeking assistance with stray, abandoned, feral, or injured cats should contact local animal shelters, rescue organizations, veterinary clinics, or other animal welfare organizations.

This policy does not affect emergency situations involving an immediate threat to public safety. Such situations should be reported to the appropriate emergency or law enforcement agency.
